Barry District Scouts Partner:
Site Location: http://www.barryscouts.org
Barry District Scout and Girl Guides website, with facts about
Scouting, Guiding and the Annual District Fete. Ensuring the continuation
of work in developing the young people of the area. Ever since Lord
Baden Powell founded Scouting in 1907 and the 1st Barry were awarded
the title of 'Kings Own Troop', Barry has always maintained a very
strong Scout & Guide organisation for the benefit of its young people.
The Annual District Fete is the biggest event in the county with
over 9000 people attending last year. Spectacular acts come from
far and wide to provide the main entertainment and theme for the
fete. Scouting has a seamless progression of training, activities
and awards that covers everything that young people do in Scouting
from the age of 6 to 25.
The organisations programmes are based around helping young people
to grow in a number of personal development areas to ensure they
really are 'learning by doing'. More than 50% of the female population
of the UK has been involved in Guiding at some time in their lives.
With over a thousand members in Barry, over a million in the UK
and a combined membership of thirty eight million world wide the
Scout/Guide market has a lot of potential. Target: 6 to 25 year
old, camping, outdoor activities, youth organisations, show events.
